Letter of Intent (LOI) Phase

Step One

  • After signing the LOI, the Owner must pay a deposit to secure the build slot and cover initial tasks.
  • The deposit is partly non-refundable and partly refundable.
  • Naval Architecture and Engineering: Conduct studies on speed, power, engine room arrangements, and system designs.
  • Finalization Tasks: Complete general arrangement drawings, exterior design, interior layout, noise, and vibration analyses.
  • Specifications and Planning: Develop detailed technical specifications, a project management plan, and an overall project planning and decision schedule.
  • Contract Preparation: Formulate the shipbuilding agreement, covering detailed yacht specifications, contract drawings, prices, and schedules.

Step Two

Project Team

  • A dedicated team led by a Project Manager will handle the entire build process.
  • The team includes assistant project managers, planners, controllers, buyers, consultants, managers for various technical aspects, and a production coordinator.
  • A Steering Committee, including members of the Owner’s team, will monitor and guide the project.

Gates

  • The build process is divided into ten gates, with a review at the end of each gate.
  • These reviews ensure all necessary actions have been taken, risks are assessed, and required information is available for the next stage.

Building Process

Step Three

Before Signing the Shipbuilding Agreement

  • Prepare the required contractual documents: Shipbuilding Agreement, Contract Plans, and Contract Specification.

After Signing the Shipbuilding Agreement

  • Gather as much information as possible early on to facilitate engineering and building.
  • Utilize concurrent design sessions where all parties discuss and decide on specific elements twice a week.

Design Development Phases

Step Four

  • Collaborate with the naval architect, exterior, and interior designers to mitigate risks and optimize performance, aesthetics, and construction practicalities.
  • Finalize documents such as specifications, general arrangement (GA), building schedule, and decision & approval schedule.
  • Develop the integrated design into an optimized design, followed by detail and production engineering.
  • Focus on exterior and interior design, including allowances.

Further Process

Step five

Keel Laying and Hull Construction

  • Begin keel laying and hull construction during the final design phase.
  • Cover essential elements like weight calculation, hull lines, tank arrangement, and stability calculations.

Detailed Phases

001. Initial Planning

  • Update general arrangements and conduct preliminary calculations for weight, center of gravity, speed, power, and tank arrangements.
  • Determine air conditioning conditions, fire zoning, escape routes, and life-saving appliances arrangement.
  • Fix main dimensions and document high-level requirements in a baseline specification.

002. Detailed Planning

  • Conduct further calculations for lightweight, hull form, appendages, and stability.
  • Develop construction layouts, interior and exterior models, and technical validations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and prepare preliminary system diagrams.

003. Contract Finalization

  • Finalize contract pricing, demarcation plans, overall contract price, payment schedule, and building schedule.
  • Prepare the final contract documents, including the yacht building agreement, contract specification, and GA.
